Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was Mumbai’s lone bright spot on the first day of their Group D Ranji Trophy clash against Rajasthan here.

The southpaw scored 67 off 97 balls, and along with fellow opener Musheer Khan (49 off 131 balls), forged a 100-run opening stand. However, Mumbai’s seasoned middle-order comprising of Ajinkya Rahane (3), Siddhesh Lad (8), and Sarfaraz Khan (15) collapsed thereafter, handing the advantage to Rajasthan at the end of day’s play.

For the home side, left-arm spinner Kukna Singh (4-66) and medium pacer Ashok Sharma (3-76) starred with the ball. At stumps, Rajasthan were 10 for no loss.

Meanwhile, in a Group B clash, recently-discarded Test batter Karun Nair notched up his second ton on the trot (142*) for Karnataka (vs Kerala) to remind the selectors of his ability. Nair had scored an unbeaten 174 in the first round against Goa.
