Alyssa Healy, one of Australia’s cricketing legends, is set to hang up her boots following the home series against India in March. She will captain the Australian side for the last time during the three-match ODI series and a Test match in Perth, but will not participate in the T20I series against the ‘Women in Blue’ nor be part of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in the UK.

Expressing a mix of emotions, Healy shared, “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the upcoming series against India will be my last for Australia. While my passion for representing Australia remains strong, I feel I’ve lost the competitive drive that has fueled me throughout my career, making this the right time to step away.”

Healy also conveyed her enthusiasm for the India series, stating, “I won’t be heading to the T20 World Cup this year, and given the limited preparation the team has, I will miss the T20s against India. However, I’m eager to finish my career on a high note by captaining the ODI and Test teams at home against India, a significant series for us.”

Over the past decade, Healy has been a cornerstone of Australia’s cricketing success, boasting eight world titles—six in T20 and two in ODIs. The disappointment of losing in the semifinals of last year’s ODI World Cup weighed heavily on her and her teammates.

Throughout her illustrious career, Healy has played in 10 Test matches, 123 ODIs, and 162 T20I games. Her stats include 489 runs in Tests at an average of 30.56, 3,563 runs in ODIs at an average of 35.98 with seven centuries, and 3,054 runs in T20Is at 25.45 with one century.

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg hailed Healy as an all-time great, stating, “Alyssa has made an invaluable impact on the game both on and off the field during her 15-year career. We thank her and look forward to honoring her remarkable achievements throughout the series against India.”
