Dewald Brevis, the promising young batsman from South Africa, recently shared his thoughts on the external pressures surrounding major tournaments like the SA20 and the T20 World Cup. Currently playing for the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20, he emphasized that while there’s always noise from the outside, it doesn’t sway his focus. “No matter if it’s the SA20 or the World Cup, it remains a game of cricket with a white ball. I’m here to enjoy it and play my natural game. The external chatter doesn’t bother me,” he stated confidently.

Brevis also expressed optimism about the current form of his teammates, highlighting that everyone is peaking just in time for the global event. “It’s thrilling to see how everyone is building their form. We’re concentrating on the present, enjoying the SA20, and getting excited for the upcoming World Cup,” remarked the 22-year-old cricketer.

Since making his T20I debut against Australia in August 2023, Brevis has showcased his talent in 19 matches, amassing 469 runs at an impressive strike rate of 173.70, including one century and two fifties.

As the T20 World Cup 2026 approaches, South Africa finds itself in Group D, alongside formidable teams like Afghanistan, Canada, New Zealand, and the UAE. The Proteas will kick off their World Cup journey against Canada on February 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The tournament’s semi-finals are set for March 4 and 5, culminating in the grand final on March 8. South Africa’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 features Aiden Markram (C), Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Quinton de Kock, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, Marco Jansen, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, and Jason Smith.
