After suffering their third consecutive defeat, Mumbai Indians’ captain Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged that her team fell short by 20 runs in their match against Delhi Capitals, who triumphed by seven wickets. Kaur emphasized the ongoing struggles during the Powerplay phase, both with bat and ball, as a significant factor in their loss. “I believe we were roughly 20 runs short with the bat. Our execution during the Powerplay has not been up to par — this has been a persistent issue for us throughout the tournament. We need to elevate our performance during that critical phase,” Kaur stated.
“The Powerplay has proven challenging for us, particularly because we’ve had to frequently adjust our opening lineup due to injuries. At the tournament’s onset, several players were unavailable, and now Kamalini’s injury has necessitated yet another change. This has impacted our stability at the top order, but it should not serve as an excuse; whoever steps up to open must take accountability and approach the innings with a positive mindset for the team.”
