In the second T20I match against New Zealand, England emerged victorious by 65 runs at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
During the match, England`s skipper Harry Brook played a knock of 78 runs off 35 deliveries. His knock was laced with six boundaries and five maximums.
Riding on his knock, the “Three Lions” posted a total of 236 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.
With Brook scoring 78 runs, he became the 10th batsman to complete 1,000 runs in the T20I format for England.
He joined the special club of England batsmen featuring Jos Buttler (3,869), Eoin Morgan (2,458), Alex Hales (2,074), Dawid Malan (1,892), Jonny Bairstow (1,671), Phil Salt (1,540), Jason Roy (1,522), Moeen Ali (1,229) and Kevin Pietersen (1,176).
During the match, opening batsman Phil Salt accumulated 85 runs in just 56 balls. His knock included 11 boundaries and a maximum. Jacob Bethell and Tom Baton scored 24 and an unbeaten 29 runs, respectively.
For New Zealand, Kyle Jamieson bagged two wickets by conceding 47 runs in four overs. Jacob Duffy and Michael Bracewell registered one wicket each to their names. Duffy bowled four overs and gave away 44 runs, whereas Bracewell also gave away 36 runs in three overs.
Skipper Mitchell Santner, James Neesham, and Matt Henry went wicketless in the second T20I match against England. Bowling four overs, Henry leaked 45 runs. Santner, in his quota of four overs, he gave away 41 runs, and Neesham, too, conceded 20 runs in the only over he bowled.
In reply, New Zealand players struggled to stitch significant partnerships and surrendered to a 65-run defeat.
Tim Seifert scored 39 runs in 29 balls, including four boundaries and two maximums. Skipper Santner garnered 36 runs off just 15 balls, which were laced with three boundaries and the same number of maximums. Facing 24 balls, Mark Chapman also accumulated 28 runs, with the help of two boundaries and a maximum.
England`s Adil Rashid registered a four-wicket haul. Liam Dawson, Brydon Carse, and Luke Wood also claimed two wickets each. Sam Curran also bowled three overs, but failed to pick up any wickets.
