The final match of the `Super Four` stage of the Asia Cup 2025 between Team India and Sri Lanka ended in a `Super Over`.

Speaking about the match, Team India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said that he felt like it was a final game and asked his teammates to have good energy to see where the game takes them.

“It felt like a final and the boys showed a lot of character after the first half in the second innings. I told the boys to have good energy and let`s see where we are at the end,” said Suryakumar.

In the first innings of the match, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson played knocks of an unbeaten 49 and 39 runs, respectively. The skipper gave a special mention to the duo for taking responsibility and showcasing confidence.

“To have that start with the bat, and someone like Sanju and Tilak taking that tempo was good to see. And for someone like Sanju, who is not opening the batting, and taking that responsibility and even Tilak showing great confidence, which was good to see,” said the 35-year-old cricketer.

During the match, Arshdeep Singh conceded 46 runs by bowling four wickets and managed to claim a wicket. Despite conceding too many runs, according to the format, Suryakumar handed the ball to Arshdeep in the `Super Over`.

Speaking on the decision, he said that the pacer has been in this situation several times, and the skipper asked him to execute his plans.

“Arshdeep has delivered for us the last 2-3 years. I told him to back his own plans and try to execute. He has been there in that situation many times and he has done really well for India and for his IPL side. His confidence says it all. None other than Arshdeep to bowl that Super Over,” said Suryakumar.

Team India will now lock horns with arch-rivals, Pakistan, in the Asia Cup 2025 final.
