West Indies got off to a poor start in their two-match Test series against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, October 2 as they were bundled out for just 162 runs in 44.1 overs. 

It all began when Tagenarine Chanderpaul (0 runs off 11 balls) got a strangle down the leg side off Mohammed Siraj`s bowling. John Campbell (8 runs off 19 balls) was the next to get dismissed as skipper Shubman Gill took a pretty excellent review to get the batter caught behind. Mohammed Siraj then bowled a beautiful inswinger to clean up Brandon King (13 runs off 15 balls). Alick Athanaze (12 runs off 24 balls) then played a loose drive away from the body and was caught by KL Rahul in the slip cordon off Siraj`s bowling. Kuldeep Yadav capped off a great first session for India with the wicket of Shai Hope (26 runs off 36 balls) through a brilliant piece of bowling.

West Indies captain Roston Chase offered some resistance with his 24 runs off 34 balls. However, he was later also dismissed, caught behind by Mohammed Siraj. Khary Pierre brought the spinners into play as he was trapped in front by Washington Sundar for 11 off 34 balls. Jamel Warrican was caught behind by Dhruv Jurel off Kuldeep Yadav`s bowling for 8 runs off 16 balls. Jasprit Bumrah then came back in the attack to knock over Justin Greaves at the backend of the innings. Greaves was looking to cut loose but was stopped in his tracks as he scored 32 runs in 48 balls. Johann Layne was the last wicket to fall as he was also cleaned up by Bumrah for just 1 run off 4 balls. Jayden Seales remained unbeaten on 6 runs off 16 balls.

Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he continued the good work he had done in England, picking up figures of 4/40. Jasprit Bumrah provided good support to his compatriot by picking up figures of 3/42. Both bowlers bowled 14 overs each. Nitish Kumar Reddy recieved a brief go, remaining wicketkless for 16 runs from his four overs. Ravindra Jadeja conceded 15 runs in his three overs going wicketless. Kuldeep Yadav picked u[p a couple of wickets and conceded just 25 runs in his 6.1 overs. Washington Sundar bagged a wicket and conceded nine runs in his three overs. 

India have scored 74/1 at the time of writing, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (36 runs off 54 balls) getting dismissed after a brisk start. KL Rahul has scored an unbeaten 32 runs off 63 balls while Sai Sudharsan has faced 5 balls for his 4 runs.
