The city’s municipal school students will get free access to the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Sharad Pawar Cricket Museum at Wankhede Stadium, the MCA’s  recently-elected Apex Council decided at their first meeting on Friday.

The museum was inaugurated in the presence of batting great Sunil Gavaskar and former MCA, BCCI and ICC president Pawar last August.

“We have taken a decision to give free entry to the MCA Cricket Museum to municipal school students on select week days. We will also grant other school students entry with a 50 per cent discount on the regular entry fee of R500. This will encourage greater engagement with Mumbai’s cricketing heritage,” MCA secretary Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar told mid-day on Friday.

MCA have also decided to open two new player registration centres, at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivli and one in Palghar district. MCA president Ajinkya Naik said: “Our focus remains on creating opportunities for the cricketing community. The measures approved today reflect the Apex Council’s dedication to long-term progress and stakeholder welfare.”
