As Namibia prepares to face Team India in the T20 World Cup 2026 match on Thursday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, skipper Gerhard Erasmus voiced his disappointment over missing a night training session prior to this crucial encounter. He pointed out that most players, apart from those who have participated in leagues like the Nepal Premier League and ILT20, rarely get the opportunity to practice under lights. “We lack proper lighting facilities back in Namibia, which poses a significant challenge for us. It’s not a minor issue. Aside from those who have experience in leagues and previous World Cups, our players don’t often train in such conditions,” Erasmus stated. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic, asserting that his team will stick to their unique ‘Namibian’ approach. “Not having a night practice before this match is unfortunate. I’m not sure why it happened. I noticed India has conducted two night practices, and Canada is currently training under lights. But we’ll show up and play the way Namibians do, which is with resilience and determination,” he added. Currently, India holds the second spot in Group A with a net run rate (NRR) of +1.450 and two points, while Namibia sits in fourth place with an NRR of -1.033. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see if Team India’s Abhishek Sharma will take the field, following his recent hospitalization due to a stomach infection.
