As the T20 World Cup 2026 approaches, Pakistan has officially announced its 15-member squad for the prestigious tournament. Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), hinted at a potential boycott in solidarity with Bangladesh after the International Cricket Council (ICC) replaced Bangladesh with Scotland due to security issues preventing Bangladesh from playing in India. Salman Ali Agha will captain the ‘Green Shirts’ as they prepare for the tournament scheduled from February 7 to March 8, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Following Bangladesh’s exclusion, Naqvi mentioned that the decision regarding Pakistan’s participation would ultimately rest with the government. All of Pakistan’s matches in the T20 World Cup 2026 will take place in Sri Lanka. The squad announcement was made at a press conference held at Gaddafi Stadium, featuring PCB’s High Performance Director Aqib Javed, Agha, and white-ball head coach Michael Hesson. Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA. Their campaign kicks off against the Netherlands on February 7 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Sri Lanka, with a highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals India set for February 15 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The selectors have included two specialist spinners, Abrar Ahmed and mystery spinner Usman Tariq, alongside spin all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, and Saim Ayub in the squad. Here is Pakistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026: Salman Ali Agha (C), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan (wk), Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan (wk), and Usman Tariq.
