In the second Test match against the West Indies, Team India came victorious by seven wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

With this, the hosts registered a clean sweep in the two-match Test series against the Caribbean.

India`s premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named as the “Player of the Series” for his crucial contributions to the team`s triumph.

In the first Test match, he came to bat at number six, where he played an unbeaten knock of 104 runs off 176 balls. His knock was laced with six boundaries and five maximums. Later, in the visitors` second innings, the all-rounder claimed four wickets by conceding 54 runs in 13 overs.

Speaking on his promotion in the batting line-up, Jadeja credited head coach Gautam Gambhir for making him think like a proper batsman.

“As Gauti bhai (Gambhir) said, I am at number six now. So I am thinking more as a proper batsman, and that works for me. In the past, for many years, I`ve been batting at number eight, number nine, so my mindset was a little different from what I have now,” he said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

He also said that the team is well aware of the brand of cricket they have been playing in the last five or six months.

“I think we know what brand of cricket we`ve been playing over the last five, six months. So, that`s a good sign as a team, that we continue to do it over a long period of time,” he said.

“…we`ve been doing wonderful work as a team, in terms of batting and bowling. I am just trying to spend more time in the middle whenever I get a chance to bat. To be honest, I don`t think too much about records,” added the all-rounder.

Ravindra Jadeja then said that his value in the team won`t reflect if he doesn`t contribute with the bat and ball.

“I just focus on contributing with both bat and ball to help my team win. I always look forward to do that. I feel if I don`t perform with bat and ball, then it doesn`t reflect my value as a player,” concluded the 36-year-old cricketer.
