On Thursday, Smriti Mandhana, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, expressed her excitement over the franchise’s remarkable achievement of securing three titles in three years following their victory in the Women’s Premier League final. The RCB women’s team broke their title drought with a stunning win in 2024, paving the way for the men’s team to clinch the IPL last year. In the final, RCB triumphed over Delhi Capitals by six wickets, marking their second WPL championship. “I’m absolutely thrilled. The RCB supporters are unparalleled; their backing is incredible no matter where we play. Winning three titles in just three years is truly exceptional,” Mandhana remarked, having navigated some recent personal challenges to shine in the tournament. Reflecting on the chase for 204 runs in the final, she noted, “We believed that 203 was a solid target, but Lauren Bell’s match-winning spell was crucial—she took 4 wickets for only 19 runs. Additionally, what Voll accomplished with her 79 runs off 54 balls was outstanding. Everyone returning home will recognize the contributions we’ve made together,” added Mandhana, who led the scoring for RCB with an impressive 87 runs off 41 balls, including 12 fours and 3 sixes.
