In a thrilling fourth T20I, New Zealand triumphed over Team India by 50 runs at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The ‘Black Caps’ set a formidable target, scoring 215 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. In response, the ‘Men in Blue’ struggled, getting bowled out for 165 runs in just 18.4 overs.

Shivam Dube, the powerful all-rounder for Team India, showcased his skills with a stunning innings of 65 runs off only 23 balls, featuring three boundaries and seven sixes. Reflecting on his performance, Dube shared that he has been diligently practicing for such high-pressure situations and focusing on enhancing his mindset.

“It’s all about the hard work I’m putting in. My mindset is improving because I’m gaining experience in different match scenarios. I feel more prepared for what to expect from bowlers, as I know them well,” he stated.

Dube also credited head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav for providing him with opportunities to hone his bowling skills. “Gauti bhai (Gautam Gambhir) and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) have encouraged me to bowl. When you bowl, it makes you think strategically. I’m also working on developing new skills,” he added.

Discussing his explosive performance against spinner Ish Sodhi in the 12th over, where he smashed three sixes and two fours, amassing 29 runs, Dube explained that there wasn’t a specific game plan; rather, it was about trusting his instincts. “I knew it was tough to hit spinners, but I sensed he might bowl a few bad deliveries. I wanted to take charge at that moment, and I succeeded,” the 32-year-old concluded.

This victory marked New Zealand’s first win in the series, although Team India still leads 3-1.
