Team India is all set to lock horns with the West Indies for a two-match Test series. Ahead of the series, Team India skipper Shubman Gill opened up on the participation of his lead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah.
Since the availability of Bumrah for three out of the five matches during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was announced before the beginning of the series, it has been a talking point ahead of the West Indies contest.
Speaking about Bumrah`s feature in the Test series against the Caribbean, Gill said that the decision will be made after assessing the fast bowler`s fitness and workload.
“We`re going to take a call on a match-to-match basis depending on how long a Test match goes on and how many overs our fast bowlers bowl. Nothing is pre-decided,” Gill told the media.
“We`re going to take the call once the Test match is over, and how our fast bowlers feel and how their bodies feel after the match,” he added.
The first match between Team India and the West Indies will kick start on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Shubman Gill seems to be in fine touch in the longest format of the game. He ended up as a leading run-getter in the series, with a massive 754 runs in 10 innings at an average of 75.40 and four centuries, including a marathon effort of 269 and 161 during India`s maiden win at Birmingham in the second Test.
Recently, Team India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Stadium. Additionally, the victory in the final marked India`s third win against the “Green Shirts” in the same event.
