Sri Ma Vidyalaya from Thane triumphed over St Joseph’s Convent High School from Bandra with a hard-fought six-wicket victory, securing a place in the semi-finals of the girls U-16 Mumbai School Sports Association Manormaben Apte cricket tournament at Jolly Gymkhana (Vidyavihar) on Thursday.
Choosing to bat first, St Joseph’s struggled to score against a disciplined bowling attack from Sri Ma, concluding their innings at 51-4 after 10 overs. Tanvita Yuvraja was the standout performer for St Joseph’s, scoring 25 runs off 21 balls. Kavya Bhagwat (1-22) and Vallari Deshmukh (1-24) shone with the ball for Sri Ma.
In response, Sri Ma chased down the target efficiently, losing four wickets in just 7.1 overs, with Deshmukh contributing 22 runs off 34 balls. For St Joseph’s, IlIyana Lopez (2-22) and Rutuja Wande (2-28) were the key bowlers, but their efforts weren’t enough to halt Sri Ma’s progress.
