The final match of the `Super Four` stage of the Asia Cup 2025 ended in an absolutely thrilling way. Team India won the match against Sri Lanka in the `Super Over`.
While chasing a target of 203 runs, Sri Lanka`s Pathum Nissanka scored a blistering century. Facing 58 balls, the right-hander played a knock of 107 runs, with the help of seven boundaries and six maximums. Shouldering him in the run chase was Kusal Mendis, who scored 58 runs off 32 balls. His knock was laced with eight boundaries and a maximum.
However, their knocks helped Lanka to equal the scores, but the Suryakumar Yadav-led men had the last laugh in Dubai.
Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets in the Super Over by restricting Sri Lanka to two runs. In response, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored three runs on the first ball.
In the `Super Four` match of the Asia Cup 2025, Team India posted a total of 202 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs at the Dubai International Stadium.
Having put to bat first, Abhishek Sharma continued to enjoy his rich vein of form. Facing just 31 deliveries, the explosive left-hander smashed 61 runs, with the help of eight boundaries and two maximums.
Fellow opening batsman Shubman Gill departed early on the score of four runs, which came in three balls, including a boundary. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored 12 runs off 13 balls, including a boundary.
Later, Tilak Varma played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs. In 34 balls, he smashed four boundaries and a maximum. Sanju Samson, too, delivered a knock of 39 runs off 23 balls, which was laced with a boundary and three maximums. Hardik Pandya managed to score just two runs in three balls.
Axar Patel gave finishing touches to the Indian team. In just 15 balls, the left-hander scored an unbeaten 21 runs. He smashed a boundary and a maximum.
For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dasun Shanaka, and skipper Charith Asalanka registered one wicket each to their names. Completing his quota of four overs, Theekshana conceded 36 runs, whereas Dushmantha Chameera was smashed for 40 runs in four overs.
Hasaranga, too, leaked 37 runs in four overs. Shanaka and Asalanka, both bowling two overs each, were smashed for 23 and 18 runs, respectively.
Nuwan Thusharan went wicketless in the `Super Four` match of the Asia Cup 2025 against Team India. Bowling four overs, he gave away 43 runs, without claiming any wickets.
