In the ongoing ODI Women`s World Cup 2025, Australia continue to enjoy their top spot on the points table. But what concerns the team the most is the injury of its skipper, Alyssa Healy.

Vice-captain Tahlia McGrath revealed that skipper Healy remains a day-to-day proposition in the ongoing global showpiece as she continues to recover from her calf injury.

Healy did not feature in Australia`s World Cup clash against arch-rivals England at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Madhya Pradesh due to the calf injury she sustained earlier this week.

In her absence, McGrath led the Aussie pack and managed to secure a victory by six wickets against England.

Updating on Healy`s fitness, McGrath said, “She will definitely be back. It`s a bit of a day-by-day (prognosis), and I`ll leave that in the hands of the physio. I think she`s tracking nicely, but a bit of a day-by-day progress”.

Australia is yet to play their final group stage fixture, which is against South Africa. The match will be played on October 25 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. However, the Healy-led side has managed to seal the semi-final berth of the ongoing ODI Women`s World Cup 2025.

Who emerges as the opposition of Australia is yet to be seen, depending on the match result between Team India and New Zealand.

Ahead of the remaining matches, McGrath said that her team need to improve in a few areas and has instilled the belief of pulling the game in their favour from any situation.

“There is certainly a lot to improve on from this game,” she said. For us, it`s that belief that from any position, we can win. So fine-tune a few areas and still keep that belief and that momentum going,” said the 29-year-old cricketer.

On the other hand, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt admitted her side were a little bit off against Australia on Wednesday, but believes they can turn the tables if they face the seven-time champions again later in the tournament.

“Yeah, definitely,” she said without hesitation when asked if England could beat Australia during the knockout stages.

“We weren`t at our best today, but I don`t think we have played our best game yet. We will be ready for them if we do see them again,” the 33-year-old cricketer added.
