Team India`s ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer said that he is recovering and getting better every passing day. Earlier, the right-hander had sustained a ruptured spleen and rib cage injury while completing a terrific catch during the third ODI match against Australia.
He took a difficult catch to dismiss Alex Carey in Harshit Rana`s over at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Iyer on Thursday shared a post on his official social media handle in which he wrote, “I`m currently in recovery process and getting better, every passing day”.
“I`m deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I`ve received – it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts,” he added.

Earlier, the BCCI on Tuesday had confirmed that Iyer`s condition had stabilised and he was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday, 28th October, has shown significant improvement, and Shreyas is on the road to recovery,” said the BCCI in a statement.
“The BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress,” it added.
Initially, Iyer was expected to be out of action for about three weeks, but now it appears the recovery period may be longer.
However, the “Men in Blue” secured a victory by nine wickets in the third ODI match against the Aussies. After concluding the 50-over format series, both teams will lock horns against each other in the five-match T20I series.
The first T20I match, which was scheduled at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday, ended in a no result due to persistent rain. Having put to bat first, India reached the score of 97 runs for the loss of one wicket in 9.4 overs.
Explosive opening batsman Abhishek Sharma had departed after scoring 19 runs off 14 balls, including four boundaries.
Shubman Gill and skipper Suryakumar Yadav were unbeaten on 37 and 39 runs, respectively. The match was further cut short from 20 overs to 18, but the game couldn`t proceed as the rain continued to play the spoilsport.
