In the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan, Team India registered a dominating victory by five wickets at the Dubai International Stadium.
Following the triumph, India`s mystery spinner, Varun Chakaravarthy, shared a post on his official social media handle. “Akkha duniya ek taraf, aur mera INDIA ek taraf” JAI HIND !!!,” read his caption.
The Team India bowler is seen with a tea cup in the photo, a gesture seen as a jibe to Pakistani social media users who had earlier commented, “Tea is fantastic,” in reference to the 2019 incident involving Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan.
In the final against the “Green Shirts”, Chakaravarthy claimed two wickets by conceding 30 runs in four overs. He ended the tournament with a total of seven wickets in six matches.
After the match, the “Men in Blue” refused to accept the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also Pakistan`s Interior Minister.
Following India`s refusal, Naqvi walked away with the showpiece, a move that has invited him severe criticism.
Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Devajit Saikia, assured that the cricketing body will launch a protest against ACC and also labelled Naqvi`s act as “childish”.
“So far as the trophy is concerned, trophy distribution, India cannot take the trophy from the person who is waging a war against our country. We have taken a decision not to accept the trophy but that does not allow the gentleman to take away the trophy and the medals to his hotel,” said Saikia.
“This is unexpected, very childish in nature and we will launch a very strong protest with ICC in the forthcoming ICC meeting to be held in Dubai in the first week of November,” he added.
In the final match of Asia Cup 2025, Tilak Varma played a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 69 runs. Facing 53 balls, he smashed three boundaries and four maximums.
Among bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav played a crucial role, scalping four wickets by conceding 30 runs in four overs.
With this, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the final of Asia Cup 2025. Varma was named the “Player of the Match” for his crucial contributions. India`s swashbuckling batsman, Abhishek Sharma, was awarded the “Player of the Tournament” award, as he scored 314 runs in seven matches of Asia Cup 2025.
The victory in the final also marked India`s third win over the “Green Shirts” in the just-concluded tournament.
