Abhishek Sharma has etched his name in T20 cricket history with some astonishing statistics. He became the fastest player to reach 5,000 runs in T20s, achieving this feat in just 2,898 balls, overtaking West Indies’ Andre Russell, who took 2,942 balls. His highest score in T20s stands at an impressive 148 runs, which he scored off just 52 balls while playing for Punjab against Bengal during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, boasting a remarkable strike rate of 284.61.
In his T20 career, which spans 169 matches, Abhishek has recorded eight centuries. He currently holds the top position in T20Is with a peak rating of 931 points, although his current rating is 908. Notably, he has smashed 49 sixes during the Powerplay in T20Is since his debut—the highest by any player.
Abhishek’s career strike rate of 190.92 is the best among T20I players, and impressively, his strike rate has never dipped below 130 in his last ten innings. On Wednesday, he took just 22 balls to reach his half-century, setting a new record for the fastest half-century by an Indian against New Zealand, breaking the previous joint record of 23 balls held by KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma in 2020.
In Nagpur, Abhishek recorded a strike rate of 240.00 in his innings, marking his second-highest in T20Is (minimum 80 runs), just behind the striking 250.00 he achieved while scoring 135 off 54 balls against England at Wankhede last year.
