Vikhroli, Mumbai:
A late-night visit by Yuva Sena leader Gurjyot Singh Kheer to Tagore Nagar, Vikhroli, following a tip-off about alleged drug peddling, escalated into a confrontation on Tuesday. According to sources within the Yuva Sena, the team claimed they found signs of drugs being sold openly in the locality.
As per accounts from the Yuva Sena team, a group of local women confronted them aggressively. Sources alleged that the confrontation was intentionally given a “religious colour” in an attempt to shield those allegedly involved in drug distribution.
Altercation at the Police Station
The tension reportedly continued when the team reached the Vikhroli Police Station to lodge a complaint. Members alleged that some individuals attempted to confront or attack them even inside the premises.
Statement Pending From Police
An official statement from the Senior Police Inspector of Vikhroli Police Station is still awaited at the time of publishing this report.
Gurjyot Singh Kheer’s Stand
Speaking informally, Kheer reiterated that this is “Balasaheb’s ideology and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena”, asserting that they will not allow drug networks to threaten the youth of Mumbai.
He warned that such peddlers would be dealt with “legally and firmly,” while party members clarified that they intend to cooperate fully with law-enforcement agencies.
Local Reaction
Residents in the area expressed completely supported the initiative by Yuva Sena President Gurjyot Singh Kheer. Yuva Sena President later shared an Instagram video in which, according to him, individuals can be seen openly selling drugs. In the footage, more than a hundred small packets are visible in the plastic bag, which Kheer said were part of the suspected drug material. The authenticity and origin of the packets, however, are yet to be officially verified by the police.
