Last year, actor Faissal Khan revealed that his family had once confined him to their home, accusing his brother Aamir Khan of misusing his influence and undermining him. Recently, Aamir shared his thoughts on this ongoing family dispute, emphasizing that he refuses to engage in conflict with his own relatives.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aamir reflected on his complicated relationship with Faissal, with whom he starred in the film *Mela*, released on January 7, 2000. When asked about the accusations of unlawful detention and sabotaging Faissal’s career, Aamir responded, “Kya karein?” (What should I do?) He expressed his belief that fighting with family is not the answer, saying, “How can you battle your own family when you can take on the entire world?”
Aamir also addressed the disappointing performance of *Mela* at the box office, admitting, “I was obviously disappointed by its failure to achieve its potential. Every film I work on is significant to me, and the failure of *Mela* was tough on both Faissal and me. It’s hard for me to accept when any of my films don’t reach their full potential, especially after all the hard work the team puts in. We were all let down.”
Tensions escalated last year when Faissal claimed he had severed ties with the family, alleging that Aamir had an affair with journalist Jessica Hines during his first marriage to Reena Dutta, even stating that Aamir fathered a child with her. Faissal criticized Aamir in an interview with Hindustan Times, suggesting that his public persona is a facade that hides his true nature, declaring, “He tries to project a clean image, but his various relationships tell a different story.”
In response to Faissal’s claims, Aamir Khan’s family released a statement expressing their sorrow over what they termed “hurtful and misleading” portrayals of their family, including Aamir, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and their mother Zeenat Tahir Husain. The family explained, “Every decision regarding Faissal was made collectively, with the guidance of medical professionals, stemming from love and a desire to support his emotional well-being. We chose not to discuss the painful details of this difficult time publicly.”
