Ahan Shetty recently shared his heartfelt admiration for Sunny Deol, referring to him as a ‘father figure’ in his life, a sentiment echoed by Ahan’s own father, Suniel Shetty. The two actors will appear together in the highly anticipated film Border 2, which is set to hit theaters on January 23.
In an interview with ANI, Ahan expressed his gratitude for Sunny Deol’s unwavering support and encouragement throughout the film’s production. “Sunny sir is like a father to me. When my dad talks about him, he affectionately calls him Sunny Paa, which speaks volumes about the respect I have for him. The film showcases Sunny sir alongside me, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh as the supporting cast. His acceptance of me means a great deal, and his guidance has been invaluable,” Ahan stated.
Reflecting on his personal journey, Ahan recalled how the original Border film sparked his admiration for the Indian Army and inspired him to pursue acting. “I was quite young when Border came out, and it ignited my passion for the Indian Army. Initially, I dreamed of enlisting, but after participating in school plays, I realized my calling was in acting. I can confidently say that my aspiration to be an actor began with Border,” he shared.
Ahan also reminisced about how, during the promotions for his debut film Tadap, he expressed a desire to star in one of his father’s films, specifically mentioning Border. “Perhaps that was a manifestation of my dreams,” he added.
As Ahan steps into his father’s legacy in Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, audiences can look forward to seeing Sunny Deol reprising his iconic role, alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh.
