Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film, Dhurandhar 2, is generating significant buzz as one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. Recently, unauthorized images from the set of Dhurandhar: The Revenge circulated widely on social media, showcasing Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal filming in South Mumbai’s Ballard Estate, which was transformed to depict Karachi’s Lyari neighborhood, a crucial setting for the film. However, the excitement was cut short when police intervention halted the shoot just two days ago.
According to a report from Mumbai Mirror, the Mumbai Police intervened after the film crew was accused of operating a drone in the area without the necessary permissions. A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the location manager, Rinku Rajpal Valmiki, under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for willfully ignoring lawful directives from authorities. The FIR highlighted that the drone was utilized without acquiring the required approvals.
On February 1, Sanjay Dutt arrived on set to film a pivotal scene for Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Dressed in a Pathani suit and wielding a gun, he was set to make a dramatic entrance captured by the drone. However, police officials arrived and ordered a stop to the proceedings upon discovering that the drone was being operated illegally in a sensitive area.
Zonal DCP Pravin Mundhe confirmed the incident, noting that the location manager was taken into custody. Sources indicated that although the line producers had secured permission from the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited for the shoot, they neglected to obtain clearance for drone operations.
Local residents claimed that the Dhurandhar 2 team had blocked two adjacent roads—Fort-Nariman Street and Modi Street—on January 30, 31, and February 1 for filming.
In recent news, the film’s creators unveiled a new poster revealing the sequel’s title as Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The striking artwork, shared by Ranveer Singh on Instagram, features intense red hues that convey a dark atmosphere. Singh, drenched in rain, gazes ahead with a fierce expression, while the title ‘The Revenge’ looms ominously in the background. The release date of 19.03.26 is prominently displayed at the top.
The poster also features the logos of Star Gold and JioHotstar, signaling that the satellite and OTT rights for Dhurandhar 2 have been acquired by these platforms. The first installment is currently streaming on Netflix.
Dhurandhar 2 follows Hamza Ali Mazhari, an Indian undercover agent who has successfully penetrated Pakistan’s underworld. After eliminating the notorious Rehman Dakait, Hamza climbs the ranks, facing off against his greatest adversary yet—Major Iqbal, the ISI mastermind known as Bade Sahab.
