Vir Das recently shared insights into how he successfully persuaded Aamir Khan to join the project as a producer. He described their meeting during the early stages of his directorial journey and how Khan’s belief in a project is crucial. Reflecting on the initial contact, Vir mentioned how intimidating it felt to approach a superstar like Aamir, saying, “He’s on such a high pedestal that you don’t really communicate much with him. I hadn’t spoken to Aamir sir for almost a decade. When I finally reached out, he was surprisingly approachable.”
Vir recounted his pitch to Khan, stating, “I told him, ‘Sir, I have a film and I want you to produce it. If you don’t, no one will.’ He agreed to meet and listen to my narration. I was genuinely impressed by how quickly he made time for me. After the first narration, we went through nine more, as his primary focus was the script. Eventually, he said, ‘Take some funds and shoot five scenes.’ After that test shoot, he encouraged me to proceed with the full production.”
