The smash hit of 2025, Dhurandhar, has rekindled nostalgia by featuring classic tracks, including the beloved song Rambha Ho, which was cleverly integrated into a high-energy fight scene with Ranveer Singh. This revival has quickly become a sensation on Instagram as well.
Kalpana Iyer, the actress who originally danced to Rambha Ho, has also garnered attention after her performance of the updated version at a wedding went viral. The video captivated netizens, leading her to reflect on her departure from Bollywood and her eagerness to work again at the age of 70.
In an interview with SCREEN, Kalpana shared her thoughts on her unexpected viral moment. “The only difference is this wedding, where my dancing to Rambha Ho became a hit. It has given me a fresh start. I took the stage without any expectations. I believe that what is meant for you will eventually find its way to you, no matter how late. As I approach 70, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect opportunity. All I wish is for the universe to manifest my career for me.”
On the possibility of returning to Bollywood, Iyer expressed a willingness to seize opportunities as they arise. “If ‘Rambha Ho’ opens new doors, I would definitely consider returning, whether it involves dancing or acting,” she remarked.
“At 70, I’m not going to restrict myself to what I want to do. I’ve always been sincere in my work, and I’m eager for new opportunities,” Kalpana continued. “I’m actively seeking work, and honestly, I’m content with the journey my life has taken. I’ve kept my options open. My phone is always on. People know who I am, and if they believe I deserve a chance, it will come to me. That’s my belief, and I’m ready to embrace any role, dance, guest appearances, or invitations to shows. I simply want to work. I hope to make my 70th birthday memorable by contributing to my craft.”
The actress, who relocated to Dubai as her Bollywood career slowed, elaborated on that transition. “I didn’t quit acting or abandon my country. I needed to stay active and engaged. After Hum Saath Saath Hain, I noticed the roles weren’t coming in as frequently or were not up to par. I’ve never insisted on a leading role or a major dance number; I just want opportunities that come with dignity. After Hum Saath Saath Hain, the offers just dried up,” Kalpana Iyer said.
