Filmmaker Kiran Rao recently opened up about her battle with chikungunya, revealing that she’s currently recovering at home. In her heartfelt message, she urged everyone to take necessary health precautions.
Kiran shared a glimpse of her situation on Instagram, posting a cozy photo of herself resting with her cat by her side. She captioned the image, “Hey everyone, I’ve contracted chikungunya. Thankfully, Miri is an amazing caregiver, keeping a close eye on my fever.”
Alongside this, she posted a snapshot of a book, a thermometer, and a thoughtful card from friends, stating, “Taking it easy, enjoying my friends’ cards, and trying to catch up on my reading – when I can manage to hold the book!” She further emphasized the seriousness of her condition, noting, “I know you all understand this, but the joint pain is absolutely intense (drizzy face, mind blown, and skull emojis), so PLEASE TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONS!”
Despite her discomfort, Kiran is maintaining a positive outlook and pacing herself as she navigates through her symptoms. Chikungunya is a viral infection spread by mosquitoes, with fever and joint pain as its most common symptoms.
