Bollywood star Mouni Roy recently shared her distressing experience during a live event in Karnal, Haryana, where she faced shocking harassment from audience members. The actress recounted how she was approached by older men who behaved inappropriately, including unwanted physical contact and lewd gestures.
Taking to Instagram, Mouni expressed her outrage in a detailed post about the humiliating incidents she endured. “During my event in Karnal, I was appalled by the conduct of certain guests—particularly two elderly men who could easily be grandfathers. As I was walking towards the stage, they placed their hands on my waist for photos,” she wrote.
When Mouni asked them to remove their hands, she encountered hostility. “They reacted negatively when I said, ‘Sir, please remove your hand,’” she shared. The situation worsened once she reached the stage, where two men at the front continued to make crude comments and obscene gestures. “While on stage, two men directly in front were making inappropriate remarks and gestures. When I gestured for them to stop, they responded by throwing roses at me,” she recounted.
Feeling overwhelmed, Mouni briefly stepped towards the exit but quickly returned to finish her performance. Unfortunately, the harassment persisted, and neither the audience nor the event organizers intervened.
In another post, she pointed out, “The stage was elevated, and these men were filming from below. When someone asked them to stop, they hurled abuse in response.” Mouni emphasized the challenges artists face while trying to make a living through their work, adding that such incidents leave them feeling degraded and traumatized.
She called for action against such behavior, stating, “We are creatives striving for an honest livelihood. I wonder how these men would react if such actions were directed towards their daughters or sisters. It’s disheartening to witness this entitlement. I usually avoid sharing negative experiences, but this has left me speechless. I am traumatized, humiliated, and demand that authorities address this unacceptable behavior.”
