Actor Rani Mukerji recently opened up about her 10-year-old daughter, Adira Chopra, discussing her parenting style in the context of Generation Alpha. The Mardaani actress reflected on how her relationship with Adira differs from her own childhood experiences.
In a candid interview with Zoom, Rani shared, “She also fires me. Being a Gen Alpha kid, she holds her ground, and I have to respect that. Generational differences are significant; my mom would discipline me with slaps, but I know that approach won’t work with her—she might just slap me back!”
Rani also recounted a memorable moment when Adira was jumping around the house during the National Awards, saying, “It’s adorable, but being an Alpha child, I find myself a bit intimidated by her.”
Reflecting on her emotional journey, Rani spoke about the loss of her father, Ram Mukherjee, saying, “I deeply miss his feedback on my performances. It’s challenging, but I believe God balances life. He gifted me my daughter, who is incredibly close to me and proud of my work. Adira has stepped into my father’s shoes as my biggest supporter.”
In the interview, Rani revealed the special bond she shares with her daughter and why Adira hasn’t watched most of her films. “She hasn’t seen my movies because she’s too emotionally connected and feels sad when I cry on screen. She prefers to see me happy or dancing. She enjoys films like Hichki, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, and Bunty Aur Babli. However, she found Kuch Kuch Hota Hai difficult to watch because I die in the first scene, and we couldn’t get past that.”
Rani added with a smile, “When I wear makeup, she tells me, ‘Mamma, you don’t look like my mother.’ But when I take it off, she says, ‘Now you look like my mother.’”
On the professional front, Rani Mukerji is preparing for the release of her upcoming film, Mardaani 3. Written by Aayush Gupta and directed by Abhiraj Minwala, the film is set to hit theaters on January 30, 2026, produced by Aditya Chopra.
