Renowned actress Shabana Azmi recently delighted her fans with a touching moment shared with her niece, actress Tabu, captured in a heartfelt Instagram post. The picture shows Shabana embracing Tabu, celebrating their special bond as ‘Khaala’ and ‘Bhanji’. Shabana captioned the image, “Khaala and bhaanji… family ties.”
For those unfamiliar, the two actresses are connected through their mothers; Shabana’s mother, Shaukat Kaifi, is the sister of Tabu’s mother, Rizwana Hashmi, making Shabana Tabu’s beloved aunt.
Interestingly, despite their long-standing careers in the film industry, Shabana and Tabu have yet to collaborate on a movie. However, they have previously united for a literary project. Tabu played a significant role in releasing the English translation of Shabana’s mother’s biography, “Kaifi & I.” Shabana expressed, “Tabu and my mom share a close bond. It was essential to have someone who understands the cultural nuances of that era to launch the book, and there was no better choice than Tabu.”
When asked why they haven’t appeared in a film together, Shabana noted, “It has to be something worthwhile for both of us.” On the work front, Tabu is set to reprise her role in the highly anticipated third installment of the Drishyam franchise. The film features a stellar cast, including Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor, and is currently filming its first schedule in Goa. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 3 is expected to hit theaters on October 2.
