Bollywood star Sunny Deol is riding high on the success of his recent film, Border 2, which marked his first release of the year. With an exciting lineup of projects in both theaters and OTT platforms, Sunny is now preparing for his next big screen venture: Gabru.

**Gabru’s Release Date Confirmed**
Directed by Shashank Udapurkar, Gabru is scheduled to hit theaters on May 8 this year. Originally set for a March 13 release, the filmmakers opted to delay the launch to avoid a box office showdown with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Yash’s Toxic, both set to premiere on March 19.

While the exact reasons for the delay haven’t been disclosed, it seems the decision was made to ensure a smoother release for Gabru. Produced by Vishal Rana and Om Chhangani, this film promises to showcase Sunny in a powerful and emotionally charged role that embodies themes of strength and spirit.

Discussing his upcoming project, Sunny expressed that Gabru holds significant personal importance for him. He shared that the film highlights themes of courage, identity, and resilience—elements that have consistently defined his cinematic path.

**What to Expect from Gabru**
In addition to Sunny, the film features a talented cast, including Simran and Prit Kamani. Audiences can also look forward to memorable tracks composed by Mithoon, with lyrics crafted by Sayeed Quadri, Satinder Sartaj, and Anurag Saikya. Gabru will be distributed nationwide by PVR INOX Pictures.

The first look of this dramatic narrative was revealed in October 2025, coinciding with Sunny’s 68th birthday. The teaser featured Sunny carrying a young girl, alongside scenes showcasing him in traditional attire with a serious demeanor, concluding with the captivating text, “Sunny Deol in and as Gabru.”

Following Gabru, fans can anticipate seeing Sunny in theaters again on Independence Day with Lahore 1947.
