In the past few years, multiple rumours have been circulating about troubles in Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan`s marriage, with many reports claiming that the couple could be headed for divorce. However, although the couple has rarely addressed the rumours, they have, time and again, debunked the rumours by being spotted together. Recently, Abhishek addressed the divorce rumours and called it `malicious and incorrect`.
Abhishek Bachchan addresses divorce rumours
While talking to Peeping Moon, Abhishek shared, “If you are a celebrity, people are going to conjecture about everything. Any rubbish they (media) have written is completely false. Not based on any fact whatsoever, malicious and incorrect.”
“They have been doing this before we got married. First, they were deciding when we are getting married, then once we got married, then they are going to decide when we will get divorced. This is all rubbish. She knows my truth, I know her truth. We go back to a happy and healthy family, which is most important, and that`s all that matters,” he further added.
He was asked if these rumours affect him, to which said, “No, because if there was any truth to it, it would, but it doesn`t.” The I Want To Talk actor further said, “I will not tolerate any falsehood, manufactured rubbish about me or my family.”
Notably, earlier, Abhishek had revealed that his daughter Aaradhya is completely unaware of the rumours floating around about her parents.
Abhishek Bachchan reacts to buying Best Actor award
Meanwhile, during the same interview, Abhishek addressed another rumour that has been doing the rounds regarding his recent Best Actor win. For the unversed, the actor, after 25 years in the industry, finally received the coveted honour, but the celebration was surrounded by claims that he had “bought” the award.
Reflecting on the backlash, Abhishek said, “Anyone can have an opinion, and today everyone has a platform to express it—that’s fine. My job as an actor is to listen to the audience and improve my work.”
However, the actor drew a clear line between opinion and defamation, saying, “But if you are a journalist accusing me of buying an award or doing active PR, that is wrong. You have responsibilities toward the people who read you.”
Abhishek went on to address the rumour head-on, calling it both illogical and insulting. He said, “If I could buy an award, I would have bought it 25 years ago. Truly. I’ve been nominated 3–4 times, why wouldn’t I have bought it then?”
