Actor Ajay Devgn recently opened up about his relationship with alcohol. The actor, who has always been vocal about consuming alcohol, recently shared how he has transitioned from being a heavy drinker to now adopting a more controlled and mindful approach.

Ajay Devgn reveals how much alcohol he drinks now

While speaking to Screen, Devgn spoke about the steps he has adopted to limit his alcohol intake. The Shaitaan actor explained that while he used to drink heavily, now he has started restricting himself to one or two glasses of malt, each measuring 30 ml. He shared how he now enjoys premium, limited-edition malt over his previous choice of vodka. Each of these premium malt bottles reportedly costs around Rs 60,000.

He said, “Being very honest, I don’t hide what I do. I used to drink quite a bit. And I’d reached a point where I could tell people that alcohol isn’t for those who don’t drink at all. It’s fine for people who drink in limitations. So, I was somewhere more than where I should be. So, I went to a wellness spa and stopped drinking.”

Further sharing how his approach to drinking had shifted, he said, “At that time, I didn’t use to have malt at all. Now, I`ve started enjoying my malt. It`s not like even drinking for me. It’s like a routine which calms you, relaxes you. It’s just 30 ml with your food, maybe two 30 mls, but I`ve never crossed that limit since. It’s practically like not drinking, but you just enjoy it.”

When Ajay Devgn opened up about his drinking habit

Interestingly, this isn`t the first time the actor has spoken about his alcohol consumption. During a previous appearance on The Ranveer Show, Devgn discussed, “Mera ek problem hai. Mujhe jitni bhi pila do, peene ke baad chadhti nahi hai. (I have a problem. No matter how much you make me drink, I don’t get high after that),” said Devgn.

He also explained how people react differently to alcohol, saying, “Jo peeta hai (whoever drinks), should be happy after drinking. Warna usko peena nahi chahiye. Aise kai log mil jaate hain jo na aggressive ho jaate hain peene ke baad ya boring ho jaate hai, itna pakate hain. Voh nahi handle hota.” (Otherwise, he shouldn’t drink. I come across such people who either get aggressive or boring after drinking. They bore me a lot. I can’t handle that).”

Sharing how his drinking habit started, he revealed that he began drinking at the age of 14 due to peer pressure. He added, “It`s something that becomes a habit after a while. Once I started, I found it difficult to stop.”
