Musician-actor Diljit Dosanjh is currently touring the world for his latest album AURA. Before his concert in Sydney, he shot behind-the-scenes footage to show what goes on behind a live concert. However, he made a shocking revelation in the video and admitted to facing racism from Australian pap pages. He revealed that people compared him to an Uber and truck driver.

Diljit Dosanjh on racist remarks

In the video, Diljit could be seen walking around the massive CommBank Stadium in Sydney and checking out his stage. He then checked the sound levels for the show and shared that he was facing some issues with the background track. “Exactly one year ago, I played a song in New Delhi, and even then I faced this same issue on the first day. My voice and the backing track aren’t in sync, but I hope that it gets fixed. People come out here, all dressed up and excited, and it is my responsibility to ensure they have fun,” said Diljit.

The singer also talked about something concerning. He recalled landing in Australia and how some paparazzi posted pictures of him arriving. Diljit shared that when he read the comments section of that post, he found a lot of racist comments directed towards him. He said, “When I landed in Australia, some agencies reported it. Someone sent me the comments section of one of those reports. People were saying things like, ‘The new Uber driver is here,’ or ‘The new 7/11 employee has landed.’ I have seen a lot of these racist comments. But people are fighting against it as well, because they have struggled a lot to create a space for themselves. I think the world should be one, and there should be no borders.”

He added, “I don’t mind being compared to a cab or truck driver. If truck drivers cease to exist, you won’t get bread for your home. I’m not angry, and my love goes out to everyone, even the ones who say things like that about me.”

About the Sydney concert

Diljit became the first-ever Indian artist to sell out a stadium show in Sydney completely. Tickets for the show were sold out, some going for as high as $800 each, and the stadium was buzzing with an estimated 30,000 ecstatic fans.

On the acting front, Diljit will next be seen in director Anurag Singh`s Border 2, featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahaan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and several other actors.
