Aditya Dhar’s directorial Dhurandhar has proved to be a blockbuster at the box office. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, released in theatres on December 5. The espionage drama inspired by true events crossed the Rs 100-crore mark within three days of its release and is expected to surpass Rs 500 crore in India. Amid the success, Dhar and his actress-wife Yami Gautam sought blessings for the film.
Aditya Dhar and Yami celebrate success of Dhurandhar
To celebrate Dhurandhar’s success, Yami and Aditya visited the famous Shaktipeeth Shri Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh. They were accompanied by Yami’s mother Anjali Gautam, along with Anoop Gautam, Sachin Gautam and Mohit Gautam. The family performed traditional rituals and offered prayers at the temple. They also participated in the kanya pujan to seek blessings for peace and prosperity.
Speaking to the press at the temple, Dhar said, “Bahut sundar anubhav tha. Bahut khush hue. Mata ke darshan jab bhi hote hain, dil hamesha bhar aata hai. Bahut dhanyawaad, aur bahut achche darshan karwaye hamare (It was a wonderful experience. We were very happy. Whenever we get the blessings of the Goddess, our hearts fill with joy. Thank you for arranging such wonderful darshan for us).”
Bollywood celebrities praise Dhurandhar
The film continues its dream run at the box office and remains unstoppable even during weekdays. On its first Monday, the film collected Rs 24.3 crore, followed by Rs 28.6 crore on Tuesday and Rs 29.2 crore on Wednesday.
Akshay Kumar praised the film, tweeting, “Watched Dhurandhar and I’m blown away. What a gripping tale, and you’ve simply nailed it, AdityaDharFilms. We need our stories to be told in a hard-hitting way and I’m so glad the audiences are giving the film all the love it deserves.”
Smriti Irani also praised the film on Instagram, calling Aditya Dhar a “craftsperson par excellence,” and applauded performances by Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh, and Arjun Rampal.
Hrithik Roshan also appreciated the storytelling while acknowledging that he disagreed with the film’s politics. “I may disagree with the politics of it… Nevertheless, I can’t ignore how much I loved and learned from it as a student of cinema,” he wrote.
