Actor Kirti Kulhari-led globally acclaimed drama Full Plate is finally coming home. After a prestigious international debut—World Premiere at Busan International Film Festival, followed by opening the Indian Film Festival of Sydney—Full Plate is gearing up for its grand India premiere at the upcoming Dharamshala International Film Festival.
Full Plate to premiere at Dharamshala International Film Festival
Helmed by Tannishtha Chatterjee, Full Plate will premiere at the 14th edition of the festival, which will run from October 30 to November 2. “After travelling across international shores, Full Plate is finally coming home — and I couldn’t have asked for a more special homecoming than the Dharamshala International Film Festival,” said Kulhari about the film, which chronicles a poignant story of food, faith, and the human spirit.
“There’s something profoundly moving about sharing this story with audiences here in India, where its emotions and essence truly belong. DIFF feels like the perfect place for Full Plate – rooted, thoughtful, and full of heart. I’m deeply grateful that our film’s India premiere will happen amidst the mountains and magic of Dharamshala,” the actor added.
In Full Plate, Kulhari takes on yet another challenging role of bringing to the spotlight the journey of a homemaker with a talent for cooking, fighting customs, patriarchy and stereotypes while keeping her quirky spirit alive.
For Kulhari, saying yes to the movie was a no-brainer the minute she knew that Chatterjee would be at the helm. “I’m so fond of Tannishtha. I’ve not seen her first directorial venture [Roam Rome Mein] but I believe in her sensibility. When we met to discuss her film, just knowing that it was going to be written and directed by her told me that it would be done right. That made me say yes immediately, even before she finished talking about it,” she recalled, before adding, “That Tannishtha could envision me as a cook working in people’s homes made me so happy. She believed in me, I believed in her and in myself — so Full Plate is a mix of a lot of beliefs coming together.”
