Team India and Australia will clash against each other in the white-ball series. The series will consist of three ODI matches and five T20I games.
Team India`s two stalwarts, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, will also feature in the ODI series against Australia. The series will also mark the first appearance of the star duo for India since the Champions Trophy 2025 triumph.
The “Men in Blue” will enter the series under the leadership of newly appointed captain Shubman Gill. The 26-year-old replaced Rohit for the captaincy role.
On his appointment as captain, Axar Patel feels that Gill will only grow as the skipper under the guidance of Rohit and Virat.
“For Gill, it`s perfect, Rohit Bhai and Virat Bhai are there, and along with that, they have been captains, so they can give their input also, so it is very good growth of Gill`s captaincy,” said Axar in a joint interaction with Australian opener Travis Head.
The all-rounder also added that Gill has not been under pressure in his captaincy stint so far.
“What has been good about Gill`s captaincy thus far is that he has not been pressurized,” he added.
Additionally, considering the ODI World Cup 2027, the speculations have been mounting on Rohit and Virat`s feature in the global showpiece.
Till 2027, Rohit will touch 40, whereas Virat will turn 38. The upcoming Australia series will serve as a preparatory contest for the duo ahead of the global showpiece.
The first ODI match between India and Australia is scheduled to be played on October 19 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The second game will be played on October 23 at the Adelaide Oval Stadium, followed by the third game, which is scheduled on October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. All three ODI matches will commence at 9 AM IST.
