In the second Test match against the West Indies, Team India ended Day 1 by posting a total of 318 for the loss of two wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
The side played a total of 90 overs on the opening day of the second Test match.
Team India`s swashbuckling opening batsman, Yashasvi Jaiswal, showcased a gritty and disciplined batting display. Facing 253 deliveries, the left-hander played an unbeaten knock of 173 runs, which was laced with 22 boundaries.
Along with him, skipper Shubman Gill is still unbeaten at the crease on the score of 20 runs. His knock came in 68 balls, including three boundaries.
It will be interesting to see if Jaiswal manages to convert his knock of 173 runs into a double century against the West Indies.
The duo will resume Day 2 with the overnight score of 318 runs for the loss of two wickets in 90 overs.
Earlier, the hosts lost the wicket of opening batsman KL Rahul on the score of 38 runs. He played 54 balls and registered five boundaries and a maximum. Later, coming to bat at number three, Sai Sudharsan garnered 87 runs in 165 balls. The left-hander`s knock also included 12 boundaries.
Jomel Warrican was the only successful bowler as he bagged two wickets for 60 runs in 20 overs. Jayden Seales, Anderson Phillip, Justin Greaves, Khary Pierre, and Roston Chase went wicketless on Day 1 of the second Test match against Team India.
Seales bowled 16 overs and gave away 59 runs, whereas Phillip conceded 44 runs in 13 overs. Greaves was smashed for 26 runs in eight overs, and Pierre registered a total of 74 runs in his spell of 20 overs.
Skipper Roston Chase, too, conceded 55 runs in 13 overs.
Currently, the Shubman Gill-led Team India is leading the two-match Test series against the West Indies by 1-0. The side won the first Test match by an innings and 140 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The visitors will eagerly look to secure a win in order to draw the series.
