In the semi-final of the ODI Women`s World Cup 2025, South Africa posted a total of 319 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Barsapara.
Skipper Laura Wolvaardt was the architect of South Africa`s innings in the semi-final.
Having put to bat first, South Africa`s opening batswomen Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits delivered a strong start to the team.
Wolvaardt played a glorious knock of 169 runs off 143 deliveries. Her knock was laced with 20 boundaries and four maximums. Fellow opening batswoman, Brits accumulated 45 runs off 65 balls, including six boundaries and a maximum.
Anneke Bosch departed on a three-ball duck. Sune Luss faced six balls and managed to score just one run.
Marizanne Kapp accumulated 42 runs off 33 deliveries, with the help of four boundaries and a maximum. Sinalo Jafta and Annerie Dercksen registered the scores of one and four runs in four and 14 balls, respectively.
Chloe Tryon stayed unbeaten on 33 runs in 26 balls. Her knock was laced with three boundaries and a maximum. Shouldering her was Nadine de Klerk, who scored 11 runs in six balls, with the help of two boundaries.
Sophie Ecclestone was the most successful bowler for England. Bowling 10 overs, she bagged four wickets by conceding 44 runs. Lauren Bell claimed two wickets for 55 runs in her spell of 10 overs. Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt gave away 67 runs and snapped one wicket in eight overs.
Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean, and Alice Capsey went wicketless in the semi-final of the ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 match against South Africa.
Completing her quota of 10 overs, Smith leaked 69 runs, whereas Dean conceded 67 runs in 10 overs. Capsey bowled just two overs and was smashed for 15 runs.
England will expect their top batting duo, Amy Jones and Tamsin Beaumont, to put on a big show with the willow in the all-important clash of the marquee event.
The second semi-final of the ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 will be played between India and Australia on October 30 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
