Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has spoken out regarding the Rs 84 crore lawsuit initiated by Eros International Media Ltd. This legal action accuses him and his production company of misrepresenting *Tere Ishk Mein* as a ‘spiritual sequel’ to his acclaimed 2013 film *Raanjhanaa*. The lawsuit has garnered considerable attention within the film industry, especially considering the success of the original movie and the significant damages being claimed.

In his response to the unfolding situation, Rai adopted a composed and nonchalant demeanor, indicating that such legal disputes are typical in the film industry. He remarked, “These are part of life. When you enter the business, these things happen. I’m not even sure where this has come from. It’s a legal issue, and I believe it’s best left to the lawyers to handle. There’s a lawyer on their side, and we have our own.”

He further noted, “I don’t see it as anything significant. People can make claims about anything at any time. This is really more of a matter for the lawyers. Since it’s a legal case, I won’t delve too deeply into it, but it’s not something serious.”

Eros International’s lawsuit asserts that it possesses exclusive intellectual property rights over *Raanjhanaa*, encompassing copyrights, trademarks, characters, dialogues, and rights related to sequels or remakes of the film. The company contends that *Tere Ishk Mein* and its marketing have suggested a direct link to *Raanjhanaa*, potentially misleading audiences into believing the two films share the same narrative universe.

The legal action highlights perceived similarities in character elements and promotional references, arguing that phrases hinting at a continuation or shared universe constitute copyright infringement and misrepresentation. Eros is seeking substantial damages, claiming its rights have been exploited commercially without permission.

The case has been filed in the Bombay High Court, naming several parties, including Rai’s production company, Colour Yellow Media Entertainment LLP, and others involved with the film.
