Rohit Sharma, the former captain who led India to a T20 World Cup victory, expressed that the fear of failure among the country’s top batsmen may have contributed to the prolonged absence of global titles from 2011 to 2024. “The last time we clinched the ODI World Cup was in 2011, and our next major win was the T20 World Cup in 2024. That’s a gap of 13 years! While we did celebrate a Champions Trophy victory in 2013, it still signifies an 11-year drought for ICC trophies, which is considerable,” he remarked. Rohit emphasized, “We always maintained a belief in doing the right things, and we certainly put in the effort. Yet, something elusive held us back. I sensed that perhaps a fear of failure had seeped into our mindset. Whether that’s the case, I can’t say for certain, but that’s how I perceived it.”
