In a heartfelt moment, actress Rani Mukerji reflected on her remarkable journey in cinema as she prepares for the release of Mardaani 3. Known for her unique voice, Rani sat down with her close friend and filmmaker Karan Johar to discuss her three-decade-long career. During their conversation, she became emotional while expressing gratitude to Karan for allowing her authentic voice to shine in his iconic film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Recalling a pivotal moment during the shoot of Ghulam, Rani shared how Aamir Khan had told her that her voice wasn’t suitable for the film, leading to disappointment as she wasn’t allowed to dub for herself. “I had to mask my feelings because being part of a team means putting the film first, even amid personal setbacks,” she explained.

Tears welled in her eyes as she praised Karan for his unwavering support. “I owe this to Karan. While filming the trailer for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, you asked if I had dubbed my voice for my debut film and if I was okay with it. When I said yes, you responded, ‘I love your voice!’ That moment was pivotal for me. Because of you, Karan, I could keep my voice intact,” she expressed.

In response, Karan kissed Rani on the forehead, acknowledging that her unique voice is a significant part of her legacy as an actress.

Rani also reminisced about her family’s encouragement to pursue acting. She debuted in Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat, after being prompted by family friend and filmmaker Salim Akhtar. Her mother had urged her to seize the opportunity, saying, “Why don’t you give it a try and see where it leads?” It was only later that Rani understood her mother’s deeper motivation was to improve their financial situation. “I didn’t realize my mom was looking for ways to help our family. At that time, I just thought it was nice of her to say, ‘Try this out. If it doesn’t work, you can always return to your studies,'” she recalled.
