Alia Bhatt continues to make waves in the film industry with an exciting lineup of projects. As she prepares for the releases of Alpha and Love and War this year, new details have emerged about her upcoming collaboration. The talented actress is set to work with Abhishek Pathak, known for directing Drishyam 2, on a compelling relationship drama titled Housewife. According to reports from Variety India, Alia will take on the role of a housewife in what is described as a contemporary narrative exploring the dynamics of a married couple.
In a promising addition to the film, Rajkummar Rao is in talks to join as the male lead. Although he has expressed keen interest, a formal contract has yet to be finalized. If everything falls into place, this will mark the first time Alia and Rajkummar share the screen. Furthermore, Alia will co-produce the film under her banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions. The project is expected to commence filming around August to September 2026, following Pathak’s completion of Drishyam 3.
Alia Bhatt’s Upcoming Films
In addition to Housewife, Alia is preparing for Alpha, which is set to be YRF’s inaugural woman-led espionage thriller within its Spyverse, featuring co-stars Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol, slated for release later this year. She is also collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Love & War, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Furthermore, Alia is exploring several other projects for 2027, including Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Chamunda.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao is busy with Toaster, a quirky comedy on Netflix produced by his own KAMPA Films, featuring Sanya Malhotra. He also has a biopic on Ujjwal Nikam in the works for this year and is rumored to be involved in a courtroom drama directed by Shoojit Sircar alongside Manoj Bajpayee.
