Fans are eagerly anticipating Sajid Nadiadwala’s upcoming film O’Romeo, directed by the renowned Vishal Bhardwaj. Recently, Bhardwaj shared a remarkable behind-the-scenes story that showcases Nana Patekar’s unwavering dedication to his role.
Despite battling a severe fever, Patekar pressed on with filming. Bhardwaj recounted a thrilling action sequence shot on a train set, revealing that Nana was running a fever of 102 degrees.
He recalled, “While we were in the midst of this intense action scene, I learned that Nana Sir was feeling quite unwell. We immediately contacted a doctor, who suggested an injection but advised against shooting.”
However, true to his resilient spirit, Nana Patekar insisted, “No, I’m not stopping. I want to finish this sequence. I can’t bear the thought of delaying the shoot due to my illness.” For the next four hours, he continued to film alongside the crew.
Bhardwaj noted the immense heat radiating from Patekar’s forehead during the shoot. Between takes, he would rest on the train set, but when it was time to perform, he appeared as if he was completely healthy. “This is the hallmark of a true artist,” Bhardwaj emphasized.
In other news, Sanober Sheikh, the daughter of Hussain Ustara—the man believed to inspire the film—has issued a legal notice to the makers of O’Romeo, claiming that the film misrepresents her father. She is seeking Rs 2 crore in compensation.
Sanober clarified that her family has not threatened the filmmakers but has opted for legal recourse, requesting a pre-release screening to ensure her father’s story is accurately depicted.
At the trailer launch, Vishal Bhardwaj addressed these concerns, stating, “There’s a book titled Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi, from which I acquired rights to craft this film. While the characters are inspired by real events, there’s a significant amount of fiction woven into the narrative. I believed the adaptation was justified as it was based on a published story.”
Produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, O’Romeo is set to hit theaters on February 13, 2026.
