Rajkummar Rao has garnered attention for his striking new appearance, which has sparked concern among fans. The actor appears noticeably different, having put on some weight and thinning his hair. Following the viral spread of his photos, Rao took to social media to clarify the motivation behind this transformation. He revealed that these changes were intentional, part of his preparation for a biopic role.
In a recent Instagram update, Rajkummar shared the physical challenges he faced for this role, explaining that he needed to gain weight and create the illusion of thinning hair to authentically portray his character. This isn’t the first time Rajkummar has dramatically altered his appearance for a part; he previously shaved his head for the series “Bose” and lost a considerable amount of weight for the film “Trapped.”
In his Instagram post, Rajkummar expressed, “My being is through my Art. Just finished shooting for my next Biopic NIKAM, and yes, it has demanded me to change physically, which I love doing. I’m not a believer in prosthetics as long as I can achieve the look through my hard work, which I’ve accomplished in Nikam, whether it’s gaining weight, looking older, or making my hair appear thinner. My stylist advised against this, just like they did with going half bald for BOSE, or gaining weight and losing weight for TRAPPED, or acting visually impaired during SRIKANTH.”
For the film NIKAM, Rajkummar mentioned that he had to gain around 9-10 kgs, indulging in his favorites like pizzas, sweets, Aloo Parathas, and Biryani while avoiding anything glamorous to suit the character. He hopes audiences will appreciate the effort he put into the role when the film is released soon.
Currently, Rajkummar is in the process of shedding those extra kilos to prepare for his next biopic, which centers around former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. “Now it’s the transition phase to lose these extra kgs and get ready to step into Ganguly mode. Our very own Dada. I will always strive to engage and entertain you through my work. Much love,” he concluded his post.
