Bollywood director Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari, recently received regular bail from the Supreme Court concerning a significant Rs 30 crore fraud case. The couple was taken into custody at their Mumbai home on December 7, 2025, following a complaint lodged by a doctor from Udaipur. After securing bail, Vikram Bhatt spoke to the press, sharing insights from his time in jail.

Reflecting on his experience, Bhatt stated, “I spent two and a half months behind bars. My optimism was unwavering; I believed that truth and justice would ultimately prevail. In jail, I formed a friendship with someone who shared stories about Mewar’s soil. He emphasized that while truth may face challenges here, it can never be vanquished. I’m leaving this place carrying the essence of Mewar’s soil with me. Truth will always triumph.”

He further added, “This is the paanchva dhaam (fifth abode). As a devotee of Lord Krishna, I lived in the very land of his birth. I believe I am emerging from this experience stronger than before. Like Lord Krishna, I am prepared to take on new challenges. I trust the legal system of our country completely, and I believe that the justice served will benefit everyone involved.”

The case stems from an FIR filed on November 17 at Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur by Dr. Ajay Murdia, the owner of the Indira Group and Indira IVF. Dr. Murdia alleged that Bhatt and several associates solicited funds under the guise of producing a biopic about his wife, claiming that an investment of Rs 7 crore could yield four films with a potential return of Rs 100–200 crore. Allegations indicated that multiple transactions were made to various individuals linked to Bhatt’s team. However, only two films were completed and released, while the third, Vishwa Virat, is reportedly just 25% finished, and the fourth, Maharana-Ran, has yet to commence.

Bhatt faces accusations of misappropriating Rs 25 crore earmarked for the fourth film, with claims that the funds were diverted through fraudulent invoices and receipts.
