With over two decades in the film industry, Aditi Rao Hydari has experienced the highs and lows of fame. Recently, she opened up about the less glamorous aspects of celebrity status. Addressing issues like smear campaigns, orchestrated negativity, and the surge of online misinformation, the actress shared her approach to handling the intense scrutiny that comes with her profession. Opting for grace instead of anger, she draws strength from her mother’s wise words to remain grounded amidst the chaos.
On the topic of smear campaigns, Aditi emphasized that they are not a modern invention. “Celebrity smear campaigns have been around for a while,” she stated in an interview with HT. “I often encounter random nonsense about myself, but I choose to overlook it because I recognize there’s an agenda behind it.”
She pointed out that the rise of digital platforms has muddied the waters between truth and speculation. “There’s a plethora of misinformation on sites that are meant to provide facts,” Aditi remarked. “When you add in paid negativity and hidden motives, it creates a toxic environment. Sometimes, having too much information can feel overwhelming. The allure of mystery surrounding actors has diminished.”
Aditi opts not to dwell on negativity. Remembering her mother’s advice, she reflected, “My mother always said that when someone behaves meanly, it’s a reflection of their own issues. Keeping that perspective helps me stay centered.”
As for upcoming projects, Aditi was last seen in the silent film *Gandhi Talks*, which employs subtlety and emotion to convey its message. The film features actors such as Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swamy and is a black comedy that examines the tension between Gandhi’s ideals and the pursuit of wealth.
Currently, Aditi is filming *Parivarik ManuRanjan*, a family comedy where she stars alongside the talented Pankaj Tripathi. Set in Lucknow, the film combines laughter, love, and chaos, centered around a mismatched pair.
Additionally, she has the Netflix drama *O Saathi Re* on the horizon, penned by Imtiaz Ali. Described as a “contemporary tale with a classic essence,” the romantic drama unfolds in a vibrant city and features actors Avinash Tiwary and Arjun Rampal, marking a reunion between Hydari and Ali following their collaboration in 2011’s *Rockstar*.
