Aditya Rawal celebrates his inaugural partnership with legendary actor Anil Kapoor in the film Subedaar. Known for his roles in Bamfaad and Faraaz, Rawal commended Kapoor’s unwavering dedication, professionalism, and generosity on set. He recalled a pivotal moment when Kapoor’s advice helped him conquer his hesitation during a shoot.
Reflecting on the experience, Aditya noted, “His engagement and teamwork on set are unparalleled, even when compared to younger actors. His commitment and professionalism are widely recognized in the industry.” During a challenging action sequence where Rawal felt uncertain about performing in front of the Bollywood icon, he recounted, “There was an action scene where I needed to raise my hand towards him. I hesitated because, well, it’s Anil Kapoor! But he sensed my nervousness, placed his arm around me, and said, ‘Tu tension mat le, jo tujhe sahi lagta hai, wahi kar. Hum ek baar karenge, sahi se karenge ekdam.’ That moment completely liberated me and instilled the confidence I needed to excel in that scene. His experience and generosity made all the difference.”
Rawal emphasized that working alongside Kapoor was an invaluable learning opportunity. He admired the iconic star’s ability to maintain focus and humility, despite his extensive career. “A day spent with him on set teaches you a myriad of things—be it the stories he shares or how he conducts himself in front of the camera, before action, and after cut. It truly was a remarkable experience,” he expressed.
Aditya also recalled his father, Paresh Rawal’s words of wisdom before he began working with Anil Kapoor. “He told me, ‘You’re going to have the time of your life. The passion that Anil sir possesses will inspire you, and you’ll learn so much. You’ll definitely come back with a smile,'” shared Aditya.
Speaking about his role in Subedaar, where he portrays the antagonist, Aditya highlighted the distinctiveness of his character and the film’s vision. He praised the director for creating a space that allows actors to explore their craft while keeping the narrative grounded.
“My character is incredibly vibrant, dangerous, and unlike anything I’ve portrayed before. I see this role as a testament to the faith the filmmakers have in my abilities, as such characters are not typically offered early in one’s career. It’s humbling to be trusted to stand alongside legendary actors like Anil sir, and I’m truly grateful. Embracing a character so different from my own personality is challenging, but having tackled this before provides a sense of freedom. Once we defined who Prince is, working closely with Suresh Sir became about fully immersing myself in the character,” he explained.
When discussing the challenges of playing an antagonist, Aditya stated, “As an actor, I strive to ensure that each role I undertake is distinct from my previous work. This approach continually pushes me, while also providing audiences with fresh experiences in each project. I’m just thankful for the opportunities to explore diverse characters. Even my upcoming projects following Subedaar are vastly different from what I’ve done so far.”
Subedaar also features Radhikka Madan, Saurabh Shukla, Mona Singh, Faisal Malik, and Khushboo Sundar in significant roles. Directed by Suresh Triveni and produced by Vikram Malhotra, the film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across India and over 240 countries and territories on March 5, 2026.
