Lara Dutta, the talented actor and former Miss Universe, has safely returned to India with her daughter, Saira Bhupathi, after a nerve-wracking ordeal in Dubai amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East. Recently, she shared insights into the frightening experience that tested her resolve and highlighted the lengths she went to ensure her family’s safety.
In a video from Dubai, Lara revealed that both she and her daughter found themselves trapped as the regional situation intensified. The atmosphere was filled with tension, punctuated by distant explosions and missile interceptions. Though they were holed up in a secure villa, the unpredictability of the environment weighed heavily on her, especially as a mother.
After returning to India, Lara expressed her reluctance to share such personal tribulations but felt it necessary due to the gravity of the circumstances. She recounted the challenges of navigating home when standard travel routes were compromised. “We were just 10 kilometers from Jebel Ali Port, which was under constant attack,” she recounted, explaining her motivation to return to her husband and family.
With flights from Dubai disrupted, the duo set out on a nearly two-hour drive to Fujairah to commence their journey back. Lara conveyed the uncertainty and fear they felt, especially after hearing about bombings at Fujairah Port and the nearby oil refinery just a day before their trip. “It was terrifying,” she admitted, lightening the mood with a jest to her co-star Akshay Kumar, saying, “I felt like I was in Airlift 2.”
Throughout this harrowing experience, Lara’s concern for her daughter remained paramount. At times, the sounds of explosions reached even the airport, amplifying their anxiety. Despite the fear, they kept their spirits up with prayers for a safe return.
