Priya Kapur, entangled in a long-standing inheritance conflict involving the late Sunjay Kapur’s second wife, actress Karisma Kapoor, and their children, is now launching a fresh legal challenge against Rani Kapur regarding the management of RK Trust assets. The situation surrounding the RK Family Trust has intensified as Priya formally requested Rani’s removal as trustee.
According to a recent report from ANI, Priya, who holds the position of both trustee and beneficiary of the RK Family Trust, has issued a notice to remove Rani Kapur, Sunjay’s mother, from her trustee role, effective March 25, 2026.
In the notice, Priya stated, “Your actions contradict the trust deed and your fiduciary responsibilities as a trustee. Your pursuit of a judicial declaration to dissolve the RK Family Trust, intending to reclaim all settled assets for yourself while nullifying prior trust actions, represents a serious breach of your trustee duties.” This move follows Rani Kapur’s recent attempt to have Priya removed from the RK Family Trust.
Previously, Priya was appointed as a trustee in a meeting allegedly held on June 25, 2025, after Sunjay Kapur’s passing. However, the validity of the RK Family Trust and the asset settlement are currently under scrutiny in the Delhi High Court.
Rani Kapur’s Claims
Rani Kapur, the elderly mother of the late Sona Comstar Chairman Sunjay Kapur, has recently accused her daughter-in-law, Priya, of utilizing a “fraudulent” family trust to unjustly strip her of her estate following her son’s death. She is seeking the annulment of the trust and the preservation of the family legacy.
In addition to her disputes with Rani Kapur, Priya is also embroiled in a legal battle with Mandhira Kapur. She has filed a defamation lawsuit against Mandhira for allegedly sharing videos online that contain “false accusations” against her, purportedly intended to cause social isolation. Additionally, Priya is in conflict with Karisma Kapoor’s children regarding the division of assets.
